The theme for LGBT History Month is ‘Faces in History’. Anne Lister, Hugh Paddic, Kenneth Williams, Frida Kahlo and The Chevalier d’Eon de Beaumont are all people who have made a significant impact on the LGBT community throughout history.
As we are fortunate enough to work or study in an inclusive environment some believe that LGBT equality has already been achieved, however, there is still a long way to go. Everyone can contribute whether it be supporting colleagues, volunteering for local organisations or even raising awareness of events happening around the world.
The people highlighted throughout this month all made a significant contribution in a time when Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Trans was illegal – and unfortunately this still happens around the globe. So raise awareness in any way you can to stop this discrimination.
