Prizes aside it’s important anyway to find out where to go when you need information, advice or guidance. So just take a walk around the important places listed below to find out what services are on offer. If you take a photo of each location and bring them to the Atrium, (1st floor, University Place), we’ll give you one of our canvas tote bags. You can also tweet your photos using the hashtag #IAGtourUoM. The most innovative photo will win the skateboard!
1. Students’ Union
The largest in the UK and has lots of societies, events and campaigns to get involved in! The SU also has an excellent Advice Service that offers free, independent, impartial advice
2. Alan Gilbert Learning Commons
The learning commons is a state of the art, 24 hour study space. It is also home to the My Learning Essentials study skills programme which offers online training and workshops on a wide range of topics that can enhance your learning.
3. Main Library
The main library has a huge range of physical and digital content available and lots of advice and guidance on how to access it. It’s worth attending a workshop or two and devoting some time to exploring the library website!
4. Student Services Centre
The SSC is a central hub for all the administrative bits of university life like registration, exams, fees, student cards and graduation.
5. The Atrium – University Place, 1st Floor
The Atrium is the University’s Student Support Hub, it’s the place to visit if you need information, advice or guidance and you’re not sure where to start. The Atrium is home to the Careers Service, the Student Support and Student Money Advisers and the International Programmes Office.
6. iZone – University Place, Ground Floor
The iZone is an interactive exhibition area on the ground floor of University Place. The exhibitions change each month and offer relevant information about opportunities to enhance your student experience. Pop in every month to find out about what’s going on across campus and how you can get involved.
