Happy Friday everyone! This week has flown by and can’t believe we are at Friday already. It has been a good week so far this week. Earlier in the week my hubby, James, asked me ‘exactly why I was ‘doing dry January?’ Pause for thought. Why am I doing it? Lots of reasons – to kick start my January so that I have the best possible chance of getting fit and healthy, to see if I can go a month quite happily without the alcohol as I do have it regular at the weekends and on the odd occasion in the week but mainly I want to change my habits. It is not just about the no alcohol I would like to change my eating habits and begin exercising again and have more energy to be a crazy mum.
So this week I have….been out running twice (and one planned at the weekend) at lunch time to save me from sitting at my desk eating and not really taking a proper break. I have eaten soup for lunch and aimed to have 2/3 pieces of fruit a day – however when 2.30 comes I crave chocolate and tea! My solution – to invest in some bite size chocolate bars – enough to fulfil my needs. Which reminds me I was searching some information about eating healthy and came across the Smart Swap Campaign, when shopping this week I have come across the little yellow stickers everywhere so really hope lots of people give it a go – small steps and all
Am I feeling better in myself? Yes! Surprisingly I feel better for having gone out and ran- my legs feel achy but I enjoy the endorphins, even when I got soaked in the rain. I feel better for haven eaten a more balanced diet this week. I have been more tired in the evenings because I have been more active in the day I hope. 10 days in and I am feeling good.
At the moment I have my mother in law staying with me, last night we made spaghetti bolognaise. My hubby and her had red wine, my daughter and I had schloer, as much as a glass of red wine would have gone down well, my alternative was just as enjoyable with the food.
Tonight though I feel will be a different kind of test for me, I am going out to dinner to Las Iguanas where the food and cocktails are nice! I know I can have a mocktail but it isn’t quite the same –I will be going out with 3 drinkers and be the non-one –I am hoping to stay strong and not give in! Wish me luck!
