Well it’s the 02 January and I thought it seemed like a good time to do another post. Over actual Christmas I didn’t drink as much as I have done in the past – not a conscious decision just the way that things panned out. Before New Year’s Eve I wondered if knowing I was doing dry January would mean that I would drink more than usual knowing I wouldn’t drink for the rest of the month….on the night though I did not. Enjoyed good food, good company, nice wine but when the shots came out it was my sign to go to bed….how times change!
I am well stocked up with various flavours of fruity drinks and I am quite looking forward to doing some before and after comparisons – will I lose weight? (I hope so with this combined with exercise and healthy eating!). Will I have more energy? (That would be lovely but with 2 jobs and a toddler I am wary of how much more energy I will feel! ). I have read that my skin should be healthier so let’s see – I am quite lucky with my skin anyways but shall see if we notice a difference. The other the benefit can be seen in the money saved over the month so…. I am going to try and make a note on how much I spend on non-alcohol this month with what we would usually spend both on drinking in the house and on evenings out.
Whilst researching the benefits of dry january I came across an article in New Scientist which highlights the more important (one would say) health benefits -well worth a read!
Where I am now : I would like to be a dress size smaller (especially after the Christmas binging on Christmas dinner and cakes) and I lack energy (thanks to a mid-night party with a 2 year old ) but in general quite could do with some oomph….I will let you all know how I feel in comparison at the end of the month after a month off the booze!
Happy New Year Everyone!
